Model Town incident: PAT team fails to get FIR registered
LAHORE: Even after Lahore High Court’s (LHC) verdict to uphold a session court’s decision to register an FIR against Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s (PML-N) top leadership in connection with the June 17 Model Town incident, a team of Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) lawyers has failed to get the FIR registered.
The team of PAT lawyers – led by Minhajul Quran’s counsel Mansoorur Rehman Afridi – arrived at Faisal Town police station on Wednesday with the LHC order in hand. However, no duty officer was present at the station to approve the registration of the FIRs. The daily register and FIR book were also missing and only a head constable was on general duty.
“We have been asking to register the FIR for one hour but there is no one present,” a PAT lawyer said.

The federal government has ordered that an FIR be registered in the Model Town incident as per the demands of the families of the bereaved,Express News reports.
Additionally, Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has directed that these orders be implemented as per the LHC’s orders.

PPP demands resignation from CM Punjab
FP MONITORING DESK LAHORE: – Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Punjab President Manzoor Ahmad Wattoo has demanded from Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif to tender his resignation.
Holding a press conference today (Thursday), Former Chief Minister Punjab Manzoor Wattoo said that Shahbaz Sharif had announced that he would resign if found guilty in the Model Town incident. He said that protesters have nothing to lose; therefore, government must make sacrifice in order to resolve the political crisis prevailing in the country.
“PPP stands firm with democracy and the constitution”, said President PPP Punjab. Ansar Abbas Bhatti also announced to join PPP on this occasion.
