Afridi and PPAT officials listen as a guest speaks at the event
A MEGA event will be held to mark Pakistan Day next year, Pakistani
Ambassador Afridi has said.
Speaking at a literary programme held to celebrate Pakistan’s Independence Day by Pak Pashto Adabi Tolana (PPAT), he lauded the unity among Pakistani socio-cultural organisations. PPAT is a literary forum of Pashto speaking Pakistanis in Qatar.
Two Kohat-based Pakistani poets Layaq Zada Layaq and Mohamed Sadiq Sargardan were the special guests at the event. While Layaq is station director of Radio Pakistan, Kohat, Sargardan is president of Pashto Jirga Kohat.
PPAT chairman Haji Gulzar Ahmed Khan and president Feroz Khan Afridi welcomed the guests.
Chief organiser Ummat Hassan Bangash spoke about PPAT’s activities while Feroz introduced Layaq and Sargardan.
Safeeran-e-Watan chairman Malik Sarfraz Khan spoke about Pakistan’s achievements.
Bakhtiar Shakir and Bakhat Zareen presented a skit.
Layaq zada and Sargardan recited their works which was well received by the audience.
Local poets who took part in the session included Feroz Afridi, Wazir Badshah Janan, Ummat Bangash, Multan Khan Himmat, Niaz Momand, Bakhtiar Shakir, Javed Hamdard, Malik Jan Ali Kheil, Mohamed Aslam Sadiq, Mohamed Aleem, Dilawar Khan and Mohamed Ayaz Ghar.
On behalf PPAT, Ambassador Afridi and Haji Ismail presented mementos to Layaq and Sargardan.
Niaz Momand and Ummat Bangash compered.
Visiting tribal leader Malik Gul Ahmed of Khurram Agency who participated in the recent Pak-Afghan Grand Jirga held in Kabul was also present.
Haji Gulzar Khan and Haji Ismail sponsored the event.
Besides community welfare attaché Dr Hashim Popalzai, second secretary Shozab Abbas, Pakistan International Airlines country manager Mohamed Shafiq and Pakistan Education Centre principal Humyun Nasir, noted community members who attended included Fazal Orakzai, Zia Ullah Bangash, Mohamed Afzal, Qazi Mohamed Asghar, Tahir Chaudhari, Janan Khan Bangash, Javed Rahim, Salim Bangash, Salim Khatak, Nasir Momand, Furqan Paracha and Ajmal Chaudhari. – RC
