Umrah pilgrim caught with wrong kind of spirit
Riyadh: Muslims go on the lesser pilgrimage of Umrah to cleanse their spirits, but one pilgrim recently tried to go on Umrah with a case of spirits. According to a report in Saturday's Al-Shams newspaper, a Trukish pilgrim attempted to enter the Kingdom at Madinah's Prince Muhammad International Airport with a case of whiskey. The pilgrim apparently didn't grasp the severity of his crime after police explained to him that he faced the possibility of trial and punishment for his crime. He scoffed, claiming that he had bought the spirits at an airport duty free shop abroad and that he was going to take the whiskey back to Turkey with him to pass out as gifts in celebration of his trip to the holy land. Needless to say this alibi didn't hold much water with the authorities.
