During one discussion at
www.urduweb.org , one member posted the following accusations against government of President Musharraf.
I would be very thankful if you could answer them and present the true picture.
Thanks and Regards.

Thanks dear that you considered me worthy for such help. I will try my best to provide you replies and references.
1. Defence Plots: Plot rates are market driven and no individula or body can decide the property rates all over. If someone announce specific rates of thier societies then they are allowed to do so and it is upto people to decide whether they are interested to buy or not. They can compare the prices with market rates and then their chioces. No one forces anyone to apply for a scheme and buy a plot. Every individual has this right to take their decision. Secondly in no defence phase plot rate are less then 30-40 lacs (1 canal plot). Phase seven is the latest phase and market price of plots are more then 30 lacs. We can not get a 1 canal plot in 3-4 lacs in old lahore in bazars or muhallas then how can any one think that defence plot is available for this price? This is pure nonsense. If some individual thinks that plot prices are over hyped and its not worth the cost then they should not buy it no one force them. Other phases in defence which have been developed (as phase 7 in under development), plot rates are in crores and anyone can confirm it. So no one can doubt the price value of defence that is why everyone die for a plot there.
2. If rangers society and park avenue have been taken by force then why dont their owners file a case? owners do not have any objection they are not filing any case but they are having some problem. Just give them a plot there and this writer will stop writing. Corts are open for any illegal steps. If one can not prove it and both parties are not going there then what the problem with this outsider? He is not a stake holder in defence or rangers society or park avenue and they all do not have any problem but this gentelman have.
3. First of all one objection are soldiers not from Pakistan army? are they not pakistani citizen? are they not allowed to purchase plots if they can get it in installments? Then whats the problem. If corruption exist then why not proven in the court yet? Then few people can not decide the prices of property in country or that city. They can simply decide rates of their own property or schemes and people are free to buy or sell if they think that price suiets them.
4. Steel mills was a bit unfair thing and we must accept it. But court was never able to establish that corruption existed. Unless and until it can not be proven then nothing can be done. President is not responsible for everything and cabinet alongwith privitization comission decide such things. There were lots of debts and other financial details involved behind this price which needs to be decided in order to better understand these details. For that total assets, their values, debts, depriciation on assets, manpower, capability, soft assets etc all should be provided here only then we can discuss. Court never decided the price and courts are not for this purpose to declare prices of assets. They objected on the process of privatization and they said it appears that things were done in haste which shed doubts over the transparency of this process. But they never said it was corruption. These prices are debateable and no one can claim that this is the actual price unless and untill complete info is not there. Secondly if there was any corruption then guilty should be punished but for that they need to be proven guilty.

Chairman Wapda is Tariq Hameed and that information you mentioned is outdated.
"Tariq Hamid told the meeting that the WAPDA had collected Rs220.6 billion revenue during July 2006 to April 2007, an increase of about Rs19.6 billion compared to the corresponding period of 2005-06. However, there was delay in payments by some of the provinces, particularly the FATA and the KESC.
"
"The WAPDA chief disclosed that various development works worth Rs17 billion for improving the system were under way and hoped that after the completion of these schemes, the consumers would be getting electricity with better voltage and fewer interruptions.
"
WAPDA is not in loss anymore. efore discussing low revenue or loss one must understand the basics of evaluation. WAPDA is very quickly spreading its network and now they are roviding electricity in tousands of villages as compared to few hundered in 1999. They are also improving the existing system by upgrading it. Any duffer having some sence can understand that where this amount is comming? This is comming from and where is it going? The money being spend on WAPDA is actually improving the value of WAPDA. If for example WAPDA was worth 10 rupees in 99 now it is of 150-200 rupees now based on increased assets. How they providing electricity in so many villages? certainly by installing new polls and line and hiring more people. Where these comming from? and does it not cost?
Now Govt providing money to them in for of subsidy is different. Let me explain how. If single unit of electricity costs 2 rupee to WAPDA then certainly they will sell it at some price more then this cost (there are many factors behind it mostly our reliece on fuel and its prices in international market). Now if Govt thinks that people can not afford it and they should provide this at 1.50 rupee then they provide subsidy in form of relaxation of taxes. Thats it. This once again is for people and look how much subsidy Govt paying to save people

6. NAB yesterday filed a case against PIA officials related to planes leasing. They were investigating it but it takes time to find evidence and then file a case so finally it is ther and any one can consult news for that.
7. Detailed posts related to transparency international and power sector problem and plans have been discussed in two threads. One is where i provided facts and figures, secondly Govt:corruption related to NAB. Transparency international report never reported corruption at top level rather they said it is at low level and for that we all need to correct ourselves. According to them our beloved judiciary and police are most corrupt followed by media and people. So do not just use index and use it against Govt. If Govt tries to take action against judiciary then they start crying, if they take action aainst media then they start crying for media freedom so what are solutions. These people are first ones to start such propaganda.
8. Pakistan improved or not can be seen through facts, look at foreign exchange reserves in 99 and now, look at stock market look at trade look at every sector and compare them in facts then say anything. We are growing at 7-8% rate highest after China in the world. Stats are showing something different and all international bodies neutral accept it. If everything is soo bad then how is this happenieng?
